First, the sand you use can be critical and determines how solid your structure will be. So the better the sand, the stronger your structure. (However, just what makes the best sand seems to be controversial. This will need to be addressed in another article because it will get me too far off topic in this article. ) Second important factor, is to know how to make a proper building site and foundation for your castle. Just like any building or structure, your sandcastle must have a solid foundation before you start piling on the turrets and towers. Third important factor, your largest molds are going to go on the bottom. As you build your sandcastle upward, your molds should get smaller and smaller. Making the largest molds on the bottom which will provide the strongest foundation for you. Otherwise, your sandcastle will likely collapse if it’s not supported with a strong foundation. Once you have spent time on making a strong foundation, then you can let your creative medieval mind run wild and start making your sandcastle as your imagination leads you! February 20, 2009. For several weeks I’ve been writing about the need for the government’s financial stimulus efforts to be supplemented by efforts to instill some degree of confidence in severely depressed consumers and investors. I was thinking in terms of President Reagan’s strategy upon inheriting the similar economic collapse of the 1970’s. He provided financial stimulus, including huge increases in defense spending, some of it wasted, such as launching the costly but never completed ‘Star Wars’ anti-missile system, etc. , but created jobs. He augmented the spending with upbeat assurances about the greatness of America, and how the country would soon begin to pull out of the seemingly impossible mess. Similarly President Bush provided a large stimulus package after the terrorist attacks in 2001, and supplemented it with confidence-building speeches about how Americans should get out of their terrorist-inspired fear modes and spend, “to show these terrorists who would tear down our economic system that they won’t succeed. ” Both times the ‘jaw-boning’ was as important as the financial stimulus in lifting the confidence and determination of consumers and investors. My columns along those lines resulted in an avalanche of criticism, the mildest of which asked how I could advocate that the government attempt to brainwash the population, should attempt to hide the facts of how serious the situation is. That is not what I said. What I said was that for two years consumers have been fed a steady diet of doom and gloom, are well aware of the seriousness of the situation, and it’s time for the government’s financial stimulus efforts to be supplemented by efforts to instill some degree of confidence in the nation’s future. If that is brainwashing, then the problems were created in the first place by someone brainwashing people into thinking they could safely buy a house they couldn’t afford because home prices would just keep rising forever. Meanwhile, I have been saying since the real estate bubble burst and collapsed the economy, that the economy cannot recover until the housing industry recovers. So I was disappointed that stimulus efforts had to begin with the rescue of banks and the financial system, then moved to bailout efforts for the auto industry. I was delighted that rescue efforts have finally begun to focus on the housing industry, where home foreclosures are accelerating, sending home prices and buyer confidence even deeper into gloom and doom, and sinking the economy even faster. But I have been surprised that rescuing the housing industry, which mostly affects the folks on Main Street, apparently has even more opposition than bailing out Wall Street and the auto-industry. Just how unpopular the plan is was revealed by CNBC reporter Rick Santelli on Thursday. By now most of the country, if not the world, is aware that Santelli, noted for his daily rants from the Chicago Board of Trade about what he believes to be wrong with the country, took aim at the Administration’s housing rescue bill. During his rant he shouted this question to traders on the floor of the CBT, “How many of you want to pay for your neighbor’s mortgage because he can’t pay the bills? Raise your hands!” Amidst yells of agreement from the traders Santelli turned to the camera and shouted “Are you listening, Mr. President?” A landslide of approving e-mails apparently encouraged Santelli to announce that he would organize a “Chicago Tea Party” demonstration, a revolution he called it. He surely hit a nerve with his opinion that those who are losing their homes and jobs should not be bailed out by those who are in good shape on their homes, finances, and jobs, with calls of ‘Santelli for Senate’, and ‘Santelli for President’ spreading over the Internet. It does have its amusing aspects, given that the economic mess was created by the financial industry, in part by its creation of high-risk derivatives, including mortgage-backed securities, and the wild leverage provided to hedge funds. Santelli became a CNBC reporter in June, 1999, almost at the top of the stock market bubble, leaving his position as a vice-president at Sanwa Futures LLC, where he handled institutional trading and hedge fund accounts. Prior to that, he served as managing director of the Derivatives Products Group of Geldermann Inc. And now he is the hero of those who feel abused by the collapse of the house of cards created by the questionable products and greed of Wall Street firms? But of more concern to me is the apparent majority opinion that “I don’t care if the value of my home keeps dropping due to foreclosures on my street. I didn’t make any mistakes, and I don’t want my tax money used to bail out those who are in over their heads. I don’t want the banks saved with my tax dollars. Let then go bankrupt. I don’t want the auto-makers bailed out. They deserve to go bankrupt. I don’t care if it causes the whole country to fall into the next Great Depression. ” I suppose the same argument could be made about giving blood, or contributing to food banks, unemployment insurance, cancer research, the Red Cross, education. Hey, I didn’t get sick, I didn’t lose my job. I’ve got my education. Do they even realize how much worse a depression is than a recession? The Bush Administration tried to get things turned around by spending a few trillion dollars of taxpayer money, and the new Administration is trying. The results of those efforts won’t be known for awhile. But both administrations ran into a lot of opposition from those who would rather let those with problems (banks, auto-makers and millions of individuals) go bankrupt and see if the system can recover on its own or not. One often repeated additional reason is that it’s unfair to saddle future generations with larger deficits. If a few years from now the economy has worsened into a decades-long global depression, thanks in part to the unwillingness of even the folks on Main Street to unite in the common goal of trying to rescue the economy, because their money might go to someone less fortunate, who will they look back and blame that on? And how much worse off will their children be than if the national debt is stretched even further now? In his rant Santelli asked, “Are you listening, Mr. President?” I ask, “Are you listening America?”     Sy Harding publishes the financial website www. Bouncing Castles Rentals

Author: admin

I would first like to start off by saying that I have been in the inflatable rental business for nearly 20 years, within that span of time I have seen companies come and go. The companies that have lasted in my market have been the ones that have secure their base, meaning their repeat business. In this series I will teach you everything you need to know to get started making money the first weekend your units arrive. So if you are new to our industry then let me be the first to welcome you to the Party Rental Business, and please allow yourself to enjoy the journey.   1. Passion  You can probably tell from the volume of articles I’ve written that I am very excited about birthday party rentals.  You have to have a passion for entertaining children if your going to last as long as I have in the business. Here is the real reason why I love birthday party rentals: As long as there is a child on this earth, there will be a birthday party celebration. If you are sitting there wondering how, or if you can make money in this business just think for a second of how many people you know who have small children? Now multiply that number times 10. I asked you to multiply that number times 10 because 10 is the average amount of kids that will attend a birthday party. There is another reason that I love this business so much and that is because, parents are now sending more and more money on birthday parties regardless of the economy. 2.   Its not easy money – But its good money This not a get rich quick business, however you do have the opportunity to build wealth over time.  Following this coaching series will help you avoid a lot of rookie mistakes I made when first starting out, however like any legitimate business you will still have to pay your dues. What I mean by paying your dues is that there is a learning curve if you are new to the party rental business. When I first started out I was blessed to have a booked out weekend right from the start, but that was probably the worst thing that could have happen. I entered into the party rental business with an pre rehearsed plan for if it didn’t work, but I didn’t have a plan for if it actually work.    I had 10 parties scheduled for Saturday, and another 10 parties schedule for that Sunday. Other then the first delivery, we ran late for every other delivery for the rest of the day. My last castle was delivered at 2:00 for a party that started at 11am.    There is nothing in the world worst than to show up late for a child’s first birthday party, you have yet to be cursed out to that degree trust me. Now the reason we ran late had nothing to do with getting an early start because we left for the first delivery at 6:30am, the problem was everything that happened once arrived at the first delivery. Everything I learned from experience, I learned in that one day. My first day in the business was so horrible that I wanted to sell all of my units and quit. I’m glad I didn’t quit because I went on to master my business, and it has rewarded my commitment a hundred times over. We can help you aviod many of the mistakes I made, but it will require a great deal of effort on your part . February 27, 2009. There is nothing showing up in economic reports or surrounding conditions to lift either investor or consumer confidence, which is therefore at record lows. But, could that be a positive in itself? Home sales and home prices continue to decline. Job losses and unemployment continue to rise. The stock market is down to its level of 1997, having wiped out 12 years of gains for buy and hold investors. A share of CitiGroup now costs less than a cup of coffee. The stock market has now declined for six straight months, something it did not do even in the granddaddy bear market of them all of 1929-32. Politicians and the media continue to beat up on the government’s efforts to rescue the situation, and seemingly for good reasons. The government is going to take a 36% stake in the ownership of CitiGroup as one of its moves to rescue the banking system. But the even larger takeovers of insurer AIG, and mortgage lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac by the Bush Administration last September have not worked. Why expect this takeover to be different? So it’s no surprise that the University of Michigan reported this week that its Consumer Confidence Index declined from its extremely low level of 61. 2 in January, to 56. 0 in February. That’s almost at its record low, which was recorded in 1980, when the economy was struggling to come out of the deplorable 1970’s plunging economy and spiraling inflation (stagflation). The confidence index dates back to 1952, so if it’s almost at its record low, consumer confidence is currently lower than it was in the severe recessions of 1981-82 and 1973-74. And for investors, the level of pessimism and fear is so obvious it hardly needs to be measured, but it is confirmed by the data. For instance, the poll of its members by the American Association of Individual Investors is considered to be at extreme pessimism whenever the poll shows bearishness has risen to more than 55%, and bullishness has dropped below 25%. In last week’s poll bearishness had risen to 56. 7% bearish, and bullishness had dropped to only 21. 7%, and in this week’s poll 55. 1% were bearish, only 24. 3% bullish. Similarly, the VIX Index, also known as the Fear Index, is currently showing a considerably higher level of investor fear than at the bottom of any of the legs down in the 2000-2002 bear market. Yet, contrary to what those who have lost jobs or homes may feel, the current recession (7. 6% unemployment) is still considerably less severe at this point for consumers than were those two worst recessions since the 1930’s. And for investors, the stock market has already tumbled more than it did in those two bear markets when the severity of those recessions were being factored into stock prices. Could it be then that the gloom and doom has gotten ahead of itself for both consumers and investors, and is due for at least a temporary bounce? It’s easier to see that potential for investors than for consumers, as there is a long history of extreme bearish sentiment being present at stock market lows. Investor sentiment is an important tool of professional and institutional investors, in that high levels of investor euphoria are taken as a warning that a market top may be near, while extreme levels of pessimism are taken as a sign a market bottom may be near. Sentiment was certainly an important tool in helping us keep subscribers on the right side of the market in both the 2000-2002 bear market and the current bear market (we were one of the very few advisory services that was up for the year last year). And right now the level of pessimism and fear has our attention again. Is there anything going on that might spark at least a temporary psychological lift? On my daily blog I mentioned an interview in Asia last week in which a foreign market analyst was asked when he thought global markets would be able to recover. His answer was that it is up to the U. S. , that its problems are driving global economies. And he said the problems in the U. S. have changed considerably, are now “50% economic, and 50% psychological, and the psychology aspect is not being addressed, but needs to be”. And this week we did see the Dow actually close up on Tuesday, and by 236 points, on a day when Fed Chairman Bernanke testified before Congress, due to a change in his presentation. After going through his typical dreary rehash of all that has gone wrong over the last two years, he actually offered some potential hope, by saying the Fed expects the recession to bottom later this year and begin to recover next year. Later Treasury Secretary Geithner also offered some optimism, saying in an interview that the rescue plans will “definitely work”. So far the media is laughing at the new attempts to insert some optimism into the mix. But, these are ‘blood in the streets times’, when historically extremes of pessimism do reverse, at least temporarily. And after a record six straight months down investors deserve a respite. FYI calories is stored Energy. And secondly to lose weight you have to eat a healthy and balance diet that contain carbohydrate, protein, and fat as well so that it will help aid in repairing, and building lean muscle tissue which raise your metabolic rate. Finally you have to make sure that you’re getting enough resistance training and cardiovascular exercise in per week to help maximize fat loss. And make sure to drink enough water as well to help raise your metabolism. Your BMR is the total amount of calories you need to maintain your current bodyweight and performance daily tasks, and exercising. Your RMR is the amount of calories your body needs just to stay alive. Even at rest your body still burn calories like the heart, lungs, brain, and your digestives need calories to function. Once you find out your BMR, than you have to create an energy deficit of 500 calories a day for 7 days to lose 1 pound of fat per week, and to lose 2 pounds a weeks, create an energy deficit of 1000 calories a days for 1 week. It is Not advisable to eat below your RMW because your body will goes in starvation mode and your metabolic will shut down thus will make more difficult for you to lose weight and fat. FYI 1 pound of fat is 3500 calories and a pound of lean muscle tissue is around 1600 calories. Irvine Personal Trainer Secret #2- Eat a healthy balance diet should consist all of the following foods groups: (Fats, oils, and sweet but only sparingly), (Milk, yogurt, and cheese group 2-3 servings), (Vegetable group 3-5 servings), (Meat poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts group 2-3 servings), (Fruit group 2-4 servings), and Bread, cereal, rice, pasta group 6-11 servings (USDA Food Guide). The Food Guide Pyramid is an outline of what to eat each day. It’s not a rigid prescription, but a general guide that lets you choose a healthful diet that’s right for you. The Pyramid calls eating a variety of foods to get the nutrients you need and at the same time the right amount of calories to maintain or improve your weight (http://www. cnpp. usda. gov/Publications/MyPyramid/OriginalFoodGuidePyramids/FGP/FGPPamphlet. pdf). For general health, carbohydrate intake should average between 45 to 75 percent of total caloric intake, according to preference, goals, and satiety. Protein should be around 15 to 25 percent according to health and fitness goals. Finally fat intake should range from 10 to 30 percent and again according to performance, satiety, and palatability (Apex Fitness Text Manual). Irvine Personal Trainer Secret #3 - Strength Training and Cardio Training Strength training and cardiovascular training are very effective helping an individual losing weight and fat. Not only strength or resistance training strengthen your bone, joint and ligament it also aid in fat/weight loss because your body burns 6-12 calories per pound a day at rest. Thus the more lean muscle mass an individual has the higher his or her metabolism is. Your bodies only need 2-6 calories to maintain 1 pounds of fat. That is a huge different. Irvine Personal Trainer Secret #4-Keep your Heart up in the Gym Most of The Time The Secret to get the most of your workout, burn more calories, and fat is to constantly keep moving when you’re in the gym working out. For example, this what I do when I am working out, I will do flat bench press 12 reps, do some 20 incline pushups, 20 decline pushups, 20 jumping jack, and 10 burpees. And that is only one set I just did and then I catch a 2 minutes break and repeat again for 4 sets total. There is reason why I am doing this and it is because I want to keep heart rate (metabolic rate up) the whole time. By doing this I will burn more calories and most importantly I will get to my results quicker. And for cardio training I do a variety of exercises like combining cardiovascular machine like Threadmill, Stairmaster, with circuit training, and boot-camp training styles. The key is a variety and consistency so that I will Not hit a plateau so that I can Maximize my weight loss. Also try to increase your physical activities by walking up stair to work with friends instead of using an elevator, (only if it is a safe place of course). At the shopping mall use the stair instead of the escalator, Irvine Personal Trainer Secret #5-Hydrate, drink your water Finally water the sweet elixir of life, try to drink about 96 ounces (three quarts) of water per day. (IBNN. org). . . Too many mainstream radio, television and print media outlets in the Twin Cities, actively deny residents the opportunity to see, hear and read news about the local minority-ethnic population. News and information racism – a form of structural, systemic racism, manifests itself in the form of a virtual blackout in terms of reporting on events that take place day-to-day in the local population of color.   In other words, “White News,” appears be the only “Right News. ” On Friday, August 21, 2009 a press conference was held in north Minneapolis to discuss an upcoming engagement with local activists overseeing the remodeling of foreclosed homes.   The problem? Minnesota’s “trusted news source” never showed up. Nothing new! When Blacks or other people of color call press conferences, the local media does not seem to feel moved or obligated to cover events of this nature. This week in the Twin Cities, no minority-ethnic news item could possibly top Brett Favre becoming a Minnesota Viking.   While newsrooms hurried to get crews to the Viking training camp, the minority-ethnic population of the Twin Cities became the shadow of concern, again – no news is good news? On Friday August 21, 2009, the Barnes and Noble stores at the Mall of America and at the Galleria decided that a published black author, who was a star athlete at the University of Minnesota, and is today a highly-regarded motivational speaker, was not an appropriate candidate for a book signing at their stores because of their customer base. When IBNN called the Mall of America branch of the company,  customer relations manager Mike Sedki told us, “The author you speak of is not a good fit for the MOA. Our guests are from all over the world – they wouldn’t be interested in the author or his book. We want authors like Marie Osmond and Buzz Aldridge at this store. ” If you want to clean the bathrooms, there’s always a place for minorities at the Mall of America. Despite the election of a black man as president, news distribution outlets continue to overlook, bypass, and hoodwink the minority-ethnic community,  by failing to consider their news to be “news that’s fit to print. ” It’s like, “You guys got a Black President, what more do you want?” In 2009, Black males are still most often portrayed as a menace to society.   Black females appear routinely as hoes or sex objects, and the mainstream media has done little to show the American public that those stereotypes are incorrect. Soledad O’Brian’s highly touted “Black in America” CNN mini-series is a patronizing, simplistic portrait of the American-American community, that appeals to the voyeuristic curiosity of the liberal White audience, but has no real substance or meaning. The show should be called “Black in America (Made for Whites). ” As an article from Science Daily (July 17, 2008) reports,  “Watching the news should make you more informed, but it also may be making you more likely to stereotype. . . . In a pair of recently published studies, [one] professor found that the more people watched local or network news, the more likely they were to draw on negative stereotypes about blacks. ” (*University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (2008, July 17). Negative Perception of Blacks Rises with more News Watching, Studies Say. ) Of course, if a Black man shoots himself in a night club and gets two years in jail –that’s news. If a Black man commits a heinous crime, it’s on at 5, 6 and 10. Other than the above examples, Blacks in the media are almost non-existent. As another article from The Ohio State Research News  titled, “African Americans Still Nearly Invisible in Media,” states, “While African Americans have made inroads into some parts of American society, they are still nearly invisible in many parts of the news media and the entertainment industry. . . . Rudolph Alexander, Jr. , professor of social work, argues in a newly revised book that the media often ignores African Americans in stories of both heroes and victims, even when they are an integral part of the narrative. (From the book, “Racism, African Americans, and Social Justice, (Rowman and Littlefield, 2nd edition, 2005) Black leaders in the Twin Cities and the broader US must address this ongoing disparity in coverage of a population that in 2025 is estimated to be the “majority” in the United States. (NY Times, “In a Generation, Minorities May Be the U. S. Majority,” by Sam Roberts, published on August 13, 2008) “Will the roles be reversed? Will White America protest against the minority mainstream media for overlooking them? For now, the mainstream media must be held accountable for the slice of “white cake” that they call news. Furthermore, mainstream media must broadcast and report on issues in the minority-ethnic community with “unconditional coverage. ” Now that’s love! For many Mid-Life Dads, the beer belly is almost a badge of office.   A pressured lifestyle, long working hours, staying away on business; these and other factors all contribute.   Too often, the beer belly is the most obvious outward manifestation of deeper problems including unhealthy levels of stress, as well as a loss of drive and  passion affecting business, relationships and income. But how does the mid-life beer belly affect your drive, passion, income level and the ability to handle pressure?   It’s not the beer belly that’s at fault – that’s just a symptom.   But, if you’d rather not put up with this unsightly symptom and would like to resurrect your drive, passion and income too, here are some simple practical steps to get to work on the underlying causes and get results - fast! 1. It’s easy to eat a healthy balanced diet as a matter of routine when you know how and can fit this into a challenging lifestyle. Consistently eating a healthy diet with plenty of green vegetables, 25g of fibre a day, fruit, healthy fats and lean protein is one of the best ways to shift the beer belly and boost your drive, passion and income level at the same time. 2. Take a few simple supplements with a glass of water at the start of each day, including a multivitamin with zinc and iron.   Zinc and iron are as effective in combating male pattern baldness as any prescription medication (but without the unwanted side effects and with a host of other added benefits). 3. Drink plenty of pure water. The body needs 2-3 litres of water a day to replace fluids lost through perspiration alone. Think of your body as a flowing river; to keep the river from becoming a stagnant pond in which the beer belly can thrive, it’s vital to drink water. No other drink will do and it’s easy to reach for food in the mistaken belief that you’re hungry, when its water the body really needs. 4. Slowly rid your body of unhealthy toxins. Cut down on coffee, tea and of course beer and alcohol to help shift the beer belly – but you don’t have to give these up entirely.   Reduce your intake of processed foods (tinned items, pre-prepared meals etc) which contain additives and preservatives. A diet rich in natural foods without additives is one of the best ways to detoxify. This way, the body can metabolize away the beer belly more easily, freed from the more urgent task of disposing of large quantities of unhealthy toxins. 5. Get some exercise every day (preferably in the fresh air). There are dozens of health benefits of regular exercise including better sleep patterns, a stronger immune system, more passion and energy, fresher looking skin, healthier hair and nails, better stress tolerance. . . the list goes on. Make your favourite form of exercise part of the daily routine and you’ll soon fall in love with the benefits too.   Put the PE kit, a folding cycle, lights, helmet and a reflective jacket in the boot of the car when away on business, so that you can always get a quick and simple workout, whatever facilities might or might not be on offer. Mid-Life Dads often take better care of their cars than they do of that most important piece of machinery – their own bodies.   Being as little as 14lbs (7 kilos) overweight with fat around the middle in the form of a beer belly, significantly increases your risk of contracting a life-threatening illness.   Don’t wait for your body to breakdown, when some simple preventative maintenance is all that’s needed to maintain it in great condition.

Camcorders are the rage and give flight to creativity. Users of camcorders record home videos, documentaries, and make low budget movies. Camcorders are user friendly and it only needs a bit of understanding to maximize camcorder use.

Thinking of making footage shine? Here are 10 simple steps that will make you a camcorder pro:

1. Footage becomes great if you use a dolly or stand to prevent shaking. Even if you use your shoulder very often even slight vibrations could make a difference.

2. Study the use of lighting and maximize its effects. Lighting can be used to effectively create atmosphere, lay emphasis on primary and secondary characters. Lighting knowledge will teach you about exposure as well as creation of a frame. So master the art of using lighting to your advantage. Learn how to use natural sunlight, its inexpensive and wonderful.

3. Use reflectors, these will help you avoid shadows that form when sunlight is used as a light source.

4. There are in life various shades of white. So you may need to use a white card or card colors to tune the camcorder into what is actually white. Many camcorders have a menu option or button to press. The manual of your camcorder brand will have the details.

5. Booms, microphones dangled from a pole catch sound best without distortion. Learn about use of microphones and how to prevent distortions. There are many tips on the internet about microphone types and efficient placement. According to experts the most efficient are condenser microphones.

6. Color is a wonderful tool that affects the character of a film footage. Have you noticed the cold blue of Minority report or the bleached out effect in Three Kings? Be a pro and select a color palette for the film based on the subject, season, and theme. Make use of color filters and color coordinated costumes.

7. Make use of tools like CineLook or Magic Bullet to refine your camcorder footage. Digital films can take on the hues of real cinema too!

8. Get an outsider to edit the footage for you. Since you are the camcorder film maker you are too emotionally involved with the film to do the editing yourself. A professional editor with whom you have established a good rapport and understanding will be able to do the needful.

9. Once the editing is done burn a couple of CDs and “test” your film. Experts recommend using Apple iDVD for authoring the DVD. For PC users the options are Roxio’s DVD Creator or Adobe’s Premier Elements. Powerful applications include Adobe Encore DVD or Apple DVD Studio Pro.

10. Use the inputs given by your reviews to polish the camcorder film.

Filming with camcorders is not hard at all and you can become as professional as anyone in Hollywood with a touch of verve, some imagination, and help from technology.
